Sheikh Mohamed, Kuwait FM discuss Iran attacks and regional stability risks
text_fieldsPresident Sheikh Mohamed met Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah in Abu Dhabi on Monday, with both sides raising concerns over the impact of ongoing Iranian attacks on regional and global stability.
The discussions focused on measures to safeguard security, sovereignty and public safety as both countries continue to face sustained air strikes since February 28, following a joint US-Israel attack.
UAE air defences have intercepted 519 ballistic missiles, 26 cruise missiles and 2,210 drones since the conflict began. The attacks have resulted in the deaths of two military personnel and a Moroccan civilian working with the Armed Forces, along with 10 others of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Palestinian and Indian nationalities. Authorities have recorded 221 injuries across the country.
Kuwait has also reported continued interceptions, including 350 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 786 drones. Six people have been killed, including an Iranian child, four military personnel and an Indian worker.
During the meeting, Sheikh Jarrah conveyed greetings from Sheikh Meshal, Emir of Kuwait, which were reciprocated by the UAE President. Both sides reviewed bilateral ties and discussed ways to expand co-operation.
The talks were attended by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court; Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad, Adviser to the UAE President; and a number of ministers and officials.
