The UAE has announced Eid Al Adha holidays for government employees, with public sector workers set to receive a five-day break.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources said the holiday will run from Monday, May 25, to Friday, May 29, 2026, with work resuming on Monday, June 1.

Combined with the weekend, the break could extend to nine days for many employees.

In Sharjah, government employees will have a longer holiday due to the emirate’s four-day workweek. With a three-day weekend from Friday to Sunday, the five-day Eid break will translate into a 10-day holiday.

The moon-sighting committee is scheduled to meet on May 17 to observe the crescent marking the start of Dhul Hijjah. Astronomical calculations indicate the month is expected to begin on Monday, May 18.
