President Sheikh Mohamed has issued a directive for rain prayers, Salat Al Istisqa, to be held across all mosques in the UAE on Saturday, December 7, at 11am. These prayers, rooted in the sunnah of Prophet Mohammed, are performed to seek God’s mercy and ask for rain during periods of delayed rainfall.

The tradition, observed across the Gulf, is called upon by a nation's leader in times of need. This call for prayer comes as the UAE celebrates Eid Al Etihad, marking the anniversary of the nation’s founding on December 2, 1971.

The rain prayers align with the reflective and unifying spirit of the country’s celebrations, inspiring all residents of the UAE to honor the legacy of those who built the nation. President Sheikh Mohamed, together with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and other Emirati rulers and representatives, attended a commemorative ceremony during Eid Al Etihad, encouraging collective remembrance and gratitude.

The prayers, a significant religious and cultural practice, call on the community to come together in faith and unity, highlighting the values of heritage and shared responsibility within the nation.
