The United States has made it a routine to confront those who raise their voices for the rule of law with the power, to threaten and silence those who point out injustices - an approach, which is likely to completely destroy the global justice system. The latest victim of this is the United Nations Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese. The United States has declared a 'sanction' against Albanese, who is investigating human rights violations and abuses in the occupied Palestinian territories. This is the first time a country has taken this extremely inappropriate action against a person with UN status and legal protection. Racists and criminal groups have been issuing death threats against Albanese, who has constantly pointed out and condemned the violations of the law, including genocide, being committed by Israel in Gaza and elsewhere. Now, the United States has also joined that group. The reason they say is that Albanese is inciting economic and other actions against the United States. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio accuses Albanese of trying to take action against US and Israeli officials and companies through the International Criminal Court. This argument is childish. The World Court is not an institution that can simply take action. It must be able to prove that a crime has been committed. If no crime has been committed, these officials and companies have nothing to fear. However, the United States knows that a punishable crime is being committed and that many including American companies are directly complicit in it.

Therefore, the United States has taken the position that what is punishable is not the crime they are committing, but pointing it out. It is clear that what angered the United States was an authentic report prepared by Albanese. In the investigative report titled ‘Genocide as Colonial Erasure’, she has pointed out 48 companies that were involved in the genocide with evidence and has demanded that prosecution action be taken against them in accordance with international law. The World Criminal Court has previously issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Gallant. The genocide case against Israel is under consideration by the World Court of Justice. There is sufficient evidence to take action against the Israeli army and soldiers. But beyond that, Albanese has worked hard to prepare a comprehensive report, convinced that punitive measures are also needed against private entities that are not part of the state, but are also involved in the genocide through assistance and cooperation. The rule of law requires that there be laws, and that there be mechanisms in place to ensure that they are followed and that violations are punished. The moves against Albanese will protect the criminals; they will deny justice to the victims of crime. Many countries that support a rogue state called Israel have become part of violations of law, not the law.

Former prime ministers David Cameron and Rishi Sunak, who called on Britain to withdraw from the International Criminal Court, which has issued warrants against Israeli leaders, and to withhold funding for it, are punishable under the Rome Statute. The act of some countries imposing sanctions on a UN agency that was distributing food to Gaza, undermining it is also a crime. The US action to impose sanctions on four judges of the International Criminal Court is a punishable crime. So is the sanction against Albanese now. Although the sanctions have the effect of banning visits to the United States and freezing assets there, deterring those who seek to prevent violence ultimately destroys the rule of law itself. Therefore, other countries have a responsibility to oppose the violation of the law by major powers. Francesca Albanese, a brave woman who is almost single-handedly opposing rogue regimes, corporate giants, and corrupt propaganda, who have weapons, power, and money, cannot be left isolated. People like her are the hope for the dawn of justice. If what is needed is justice and peace, not power and might, let the world stand with her.
