The world has once again been reminded that Zionists are the only ones capable of occupying the lands and heritage of others to establish dominance, sabotaging peace efforts to spread unrest and violence across the world, silencing those who speak the truth while spreading false news and narratives, and even snatching away the tiny piece of bread that reaches the hands of starving, crying children. Israel has intercepted the boats of the Global Sumud Flotilla and has detained volunteers. The flotilla had been carrying food supplies and life-saving medicines to provide relief to Gaza, where the people have lost everything except faith and dignity during two years of relentless genocide. With this action, the Israeli government has repeated the same arrogance it has displayed since its inception, a belief that international law, decency, and humanity do not apply to it. The flotilla, described as one of the largest humanitarian missions in modern history, set sail with around forty ships loaded with essential supplies and carrying 500 volunteers from 44 countries. From the very beginning, the Zionists did everything possible to obstruct it, including drone attacks. The group, made up of environmental and civil rights activists, lawmakers from various countries, writers, and filmmakers, moved forward with a firm resolve not to retreat despite the threats. World leaders were also pressured to create obstacles for the mission. As a result of this pressure, when a drone attack occurred, Italy demanded that the flotilla hand over its aid supplies to them, and Spain withdrew from providing security for the mission.

Ignoring international maritime laws, Israeli forces stormed the boats on Wednesday evening and first disabled their communication systems. Israel's foreign ministry has described the mission as the “Hamas Sumud Flotilla.” They had already decided to obstruct the humanitarian effort by deliberately ramming one of the ships and using water cannons against the boats. Members of the flotilla, including internationally respected Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, have been detained as though they were war criminals. The boats are being towed to Israeli ports, and there are fears that the food and medicines stored on them will either be dumped into the sea or seized and taken away, much like what has happened to the belongings of homes in Gaza. These actions, while unjust, also highlight to the world the question of who is willing to speak up against injustice and stand on the side of justice. What stands out most is the firmness shown by Colombian President Gustavo Petro, who has called for the expulsion of Israeli diplomats and the cancellation of the free trade agreement with them. In Italy, labour unions have announced a nationwide strike today. Widespread protests have also broken out in Greece, Ireland, and Turkey against the assault on the flotilla. Turkey has described Israel’s actions as acts of terrorism. At the same time, it should not be overlooked that many world leaders and business tycoons are waiting for Israel’s approval before voicing even a word of condemnation against such aggression. In 2010, nine activists were martyred when Israel attacked six ships carrying 700 volunteers. In June this year, Israel had also detained Greta Thunberg along with about a dozen other activists when they sailed to Gaza as part of the Freedom Flotilla. There are world leaders who, both publicly and privately, claim that the Global Sumud Flotilla will not benefit Palestinians. Media outlets and policymakers aligned with them are spreading this as a common narrative.

The real significance of the Global Sumud Flotilla lies in the fact that it has once again made clear to the world that the Israeli government, which unleashes brutal violence against Palestinians and takes pleasure in killing them, will not allow even a grain of food to reach Gaza. Drawing inspiration from this idea, it is certain that young people across the world will, in the coming days, take a stronger and louder stand against genocide. Campaigns to boycott industrial groups that openly support the genocide are also expected to gain greater momentum. By blocking this humanitarian mission, the Zionists have added momentum to their own self-destructive downfall, placing themselves in the ranks of brutal regimes and ideologies that history remembers only with disgrace — those that reached the peak of arrogance and violence before collapsing. Years from now, our grandchildren will ask the world: when an oppressive state, with the backing of its wealthy friends, denied food, medicine, and water and rained down weapons to wipe out an entire people, was there really no one to offer even a sip of water to the children of that time? While those who sided with the perpetrators of genocide, driven by unending fear and insatiable greed, will stand disgraced with head bowed, history will also carry the proud memory of a small group that held its head high and swam against the current, refusing to let conscience and humanity be silenced.
