What has been happening in the social environs of Kerala for the past few months? The state is being governed by Left Front of the Communists known for their claims of secularism through scripting/ lip service. The monopolists of social reformation as they are, a committee has been set up to strengthen the renaissance in the state. They often raise human chain and walls. As the Left Front is about to complete its second term, all venomous and regressive forces that should have been kept inside those chains and walls are slithering out. Rather than chaining them inside, those in power are playing flute to usher them onto the stage. During solar eclipse feral animals are known to be freely coming out of their holes. Just as the Left is in eclipse, all communal forces are consolidating their forces in the society.

In India, under the control of the Sangh Parivar fascists, the commodity of high demand at the shops of power politics is Islamophobia or anti-Muslim sentiment. Those who spew anti-Muslim toxic and the hate mongers have wide acceptance in politics, society and the media. Everyone is pulling Kerala back a century. It was 133 years ago, in 1892, Swami Vivekananda called Kerala, which was rotting in the filth of religion and caste, a lunatic asylum. A century has passed since Sree Narayana Guru's no-caste proclamation, declaring humanity. Kerala headed from what Vivekananda called lunatic asylum to renaissance because of the selfless and socially committed political and community leadership, who were heedful to those criticisms and were ready to correct. There were still others with old decadence too entrenched in them to be brushed away. K R Gowriamma’s accusation that she was denied chief minister ship on the basis of caste and gender revealed even the Left leadership, who claimed the legacy of renaissance, could not free themselves from it. However, Kerala has been able to pretend gracefulness by wearing the overall of enlightenment over the religion, caste and class considerations. Because of this cover up, Kerala hesitates to allow Sangha Parivar, nevertheless the state being their major stronghold, come anywhere closer to the legislative assembly. Destructive forces are out to inflame these embers of racial hatred covered in ash.The simpletons who usurped the grand thrones of eminent personalities in the political, social, and media arenas are blemishing Kerala and the humanity of the Malayali.

Shameless ones like Vellapally can comport themselves the way they like but that is not what is expected of those in power and from their leaders. What should be done with these shameless ones? Should they be clothed with silk or turned in to law? The left, which is supposed to be on the side of justice and fairness, is unfortunately now on the first path. Pinarayi Vijayan called Vellapally Natesan as the Thogadia of Kerala with no humanness and sensitivity, after Natesan ridiculed Naushad who became a martyr while saving a man trapped in manhole in Kozhikode. However, the Chief Minister Pinarayi picked Natesa as the chairman of the Navotthana Mulya Samarshkan Samiti. Perhaps realizing the government's intentions, he showered hatred on the Muslim community during the Nilambur by-election. After that, the Chief Minister rushed to honour him, ensconcing him above Kumaranasan cloaking him with a shawl. The government’s support sharpened his tongue. He lunged at Kanthapuram Abubakar Musliyar who tried to save Nimishapriya's life from gallows. He threw a production challenge to Hindus pointing to the threat of Muslims procreating too many. He threw barbs at the virtuous Muslim outfit Samastha. Two CPIM ministers threw their weight behind it. This began to take the pattern of the day after the hate mongering there is the government’s blessing. That is where the Left’s right-wing wonders have reached now. As a balancing act, the party issued a lame statement without even referencing the person. It lacked the enthusiasm with which Jifri Muthukoya Thangal was browbeaten for his opinion on school time change. Kerala knows Vellapalli’s loyalty. Who is the Left party really siding with by holding spittoon to his spewing of hate?
