Dubai: Indian pace sensation and bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who was unfortunately withdrawn from the ICC Champions Trophy team due to a back injury, reached Dubai to watch the high-octane clash between India and Pakistan. He collected his prestigious International Cricket Council (ICC) awards at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.
The awards he received were ICC Men's Cricketer Of The Year, ICC Men's Test Cricketer Of The Year, ICC Men's Test Team Of The Year, ICC Men's T20I Team Of The Year, reports Asian News International.
Bumrah sustained the injury during the Border Gavaskar Trophy test in January at Sydney. He has been replaced by Harshit Rana in the Champions Trophy.
Bumrah had a memorable 2024, one of the greatest years for a bowler.
Mohammed Siraj's post-match interview after the T20 WC final, saying, 'I only believe in Jassi bhai, game changer player he is' in his broken English, summarises the country's love affair with the pace spearhead and how important he was to their fortunes.
The year 2024 was a successful one for Bumrah as a bowler. Be took 19 wickets against England during their home series, where surfaces were unsupportive. He averaged 16.89 in four matches.
ANI writes that his 'Player of the Tournament' winning T20 WC title-capturing performance with 15 crucial scalps at an average of 8.26 or his workhorse, once-in-a-generation run in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah emerged as country's newest and rightfully deserving cricketing darling, having captured the minds and hearts of a batting-obsessed nation and making fast bowling, yorkers and swing, cool among masses.
India’s ‘boom boom’ Bumrah was the leading-wicket-taker in international cricket last year with 86 wickets from 21 matches at an average of 13.76. He made four four-wicket hauls and five five-wicket hauls and has best figures of 6/45. He had one of the greatest calendar years of test cricket, with 71 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 14.92. He delivered fantastic spells home and away alike.
