Lucknow: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant has been fined for a slow over-rate during the IPL 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. This marks Pant’s third over-rate offense this season, following previous penalties on April 5 and April 26.

According to the IPL’s Code of Conduct, Pant was fined Rs 30 lakh for his team’s third slow over-rate violation. Other members of the playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each fined either Rs 12 lakh or 50 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser, the IPL statement said.

Despite Pant’s stellar individual performance, his unbeaten 118 off 61 balls was not enough as LSG fell short against RCB in their final league match of IPL 2025. Pant’s century was his second in the IPL, while teammate Mitchell Marsh contributed a powerful 67 off 37 balls to help LSG post a total of 227 for 3.

During the chase, LSG bowlers initially made inroads, reducing RCB to 123 for 4. However, a decisive 107-run partnership between Jitesh Sharma and Mayank Agarwal guided RCB to a successful target chase in 18.4 overs.

With this win, RCB secured 19 points and a spot in Qualifier 1, while LSG ended their IPL 2025 season with 12 points from six wins in 14 matches.
