Sourav Ganguly named Pretoria Capitals head coach for SA20 2026
text_fieldsCenturion: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has been named head coach of the SA20 team Pretoria Capitals ahead of the 2026 season, marking his first tenure as the head of a cricket team. Ganguly, who also served as BCCI president, succeeds former England batter Jonathan Trott, who stepped down after Pretoria Capitals won only two of 10 group matches in the previous season, finishing fifth in the six-team T20 league.
The Centurion-based franchise expressed excitement on Instagram, stating, "The Prince is all set to bring a royal flair to the Capitals camp! We are ecstatic to announce Sourav Ganguly as our new head coach."
Ganguly had earlier served as team director of IPL side Delhi Capitals from 2018 to 2019 before vacating the post upon becoming BCCI president. Pretoria Capitals, owned by JSW Sports, which also co-owns Delhi Capitals, appointed Ganguly as their director of cricket last year.
The franchise also extended gratitude to Trott, posting on social media, "Jonathan Trott, forever grateful for your leadership and unwavering dedication to the team. All the best on your next adventure! Once a Capital, always a Capital!"
