The repeated arrest of Indian fishermen, mainly from Tamil Nadu, for allegedly crossing into Sri Lankan waters has strained ties between the two nations. Since early 2025, 119 fishermen and 16 boats have been detained, sparking appeals from coastal communities and continued diplomatic efforts.
