BSNL extends ‘Freedom Plan’ offer till September 15

New Delhi: State-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Monday announced an extension of its ‘Freedom Plan’ by 15 days, pushing the deadline to September 15 in response to strong customer demand.

Launched on August 1, the plan offers complimentary 4G mobile services for 30 days at a token activation cost of Rs 1 for new connections. Initially available until August 31, the offer has now been extended by two weeks.

The plan provides unlimited voice calls (subject to terms and conditions), 2GB of high-speed 4G data per day, 100 SMS daily, and a free SIM card.

“BSNL has recently deployed a Make-in-India, state-of-the-art 4G mobile network across the country, advancing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. The Freedom Plan—absolutely free of service charges for the first 30 days—gives customers a proud opportunity to experience our indigenously developed 4G network,” BSNL Chairman and Managing Director A. Robert J. Ravi said.

He added that the service quality, coverage and trust associated with the BSNL brand would encourage customers to continue beyond the trial period.

To avail of the plan, customers must visit a BSNL service center with valid KYC documents. After completing KYC, they can activate the free SIM at Rs 1, with the 30-day complimentary benefits starting from the date of activation.

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia recently credited the Modi government’s revival measures for BSNL’s turnaround, saying the telecom company had moved from a “critically failing state” under the previous UPA government to regaining consumer trust and market presence.
