Nearly 2,000 e-Government services integrated on DigiLocker, e-District platforms across India
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The National e-Governance Division (NeGD) has enabled the pan-India integration of e-Government services on DigiLocker and e-District platforms, allowing citizens across all 36 states and union territories to access close to 2,000 digital services seamlessly, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) announced on Sunday.
The services cover a wide range of citizen requirements, including certificates, welfare schemes, utility payments and other essential facilities, aimed at enhancing convenience, efficiency and transparency. Officials said the move marks a significant step in advancing the Digital India program, promoting paperless governance and contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals.
DigiLocker, a key component of India’s digital public infrastructure, has played a crucial role in overcoming challenges related to interoperability, data security and coordination among multiple stakeholders. Its framework has enabled inclusive and reliable access to digital services for citizens nationwide.
Currently, Maharashtra leads with the highest number of integrated services at 254, followed by Delhi with 123, Karnataka with 113, Assam with 102 and Uttar Pradesh with 86. Kerala and Jammu & Kashmir each provide 77 services, Andhra Pradesh 76, Gujarat 64, while Tamil Nadu and Goa offer 63 each. Haryana and Himachal Pradesh provide 60 and 58 services, respectively. In total, 1,938 services are live on the platforms.
Looking ahead, NeGD plans to expand the portfolio further by adopting AI-driven technologies. Training programs and workshops will be held to increase awareness at the state level, while innovation will continue to improve inclusivity and last-mile delivery.
The ministry said this achievement reflects the government’s commitment to using technology to empower citizens and transform governance, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a digitally inclusive India.
Established in 2009 as an independent division under the Digital India Corporation, NeGD supports MeitY in managing and implementing e-Governance projects. It has also developed and manages several major national digital platforms, including DigiLocker, Entity Locker, UMANG, OpenForge, API Setu, myScheme, India Stack Global, Meri Pehchaan and UX4G.
