‘100% communist lunatic’: Trump attacks Indian-origin NCY Mayor candidate Zohran Mamdani

New York: US Donald Trump has trained his guns on the winner of New York City mayoral primary election, Zohran Mamdani, calling him a ‘100 per cent communist lunatic’.

The 32-year-old Indian-origin leftist socialist emerged as the party’s official nominee on Tuesday night.

Also, he is the first South Asian candidate to secure a major-party primary for NYC Mayor

His journey to City Hall is far from over, although on course to become the New York's first Muslim mayor.

The son of Indian American filmmaker Mira Nair and academic Mahmood Mamdani, Zohran Kwame Mamdani was born in Kampala, Uganda, and raised in New York City.

Zohran Mamdani’s victory appears to be apparently irked Trump who couldn’t hold back from venting vitriolic remarks on the young candidate.

While targeting Mamdani, Trump did not spare other progressive leaders such as Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) and Senator Chuck Schumer who support Zohran Mamdani.

Following the outcome of the primary election, Trump wrote on his social medi a platform Truth Social: ‘It's finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line. Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor. We've had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous.’

Attacking Mamdani personally, Trump said the young leader ‘looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he's not very smart, he's got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin' Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him. Yes, this is a big moment in the History of our Country!’

Bagging 43.5 per cent of the vote alongside90 per cent of the ballots counted, Mamdani won the race after former New York governor Andrew Cuomo conceded New York City's mayoral primary election.

President Trump’s attack stems from the fact that Mamdani voiced support for Palestinians, accusing Israel of ‘genocide’, according to NDTV.
