Quetta: At least 11 people have been killed in a suspected suicide bombing targeting political rally in Pakistani city of Quetta.

It is reported citing government official Hamza Shafaat that 30 people injured in the explosion that occurred at a parking area.

Sajid Tareen, a senior leader of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M), said several members of BNP-M were wounded in the attack.

Hundreds of BNP-M workers gathered at Quetta’s Shahwani Stadium to observe the death anniversary of the party founder Sardar Ataullah Mengal.

Ataullah Mengal’s son who was also participated in the rally, is reported to be safe.

Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s most resource-rich province of Balochistan, shares borders with Afghanistan and Iran.

The region is however, considered to be the country’s poorest in all developmental indicators.
