Deir Al-Balah: More than 90 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli attacks in Gaza in the previous 48 hours, according to the Health Ministry, as Israeli troops continue their genocidal war on the besieged strip.
According to hospital workers, at least 15 individuals were killed overnight, including women and children who had taken refuge in a designated humanitarian zone. At least 11 people were killed in the southern city of Khan Younis, including several in a tent in the Mwasi area, where hundreds of thousands of displaced people live, according to a hospital worker. Israel has recognised it as a humanitarian zone.
Four people, including a mother and her daughter, were reportedly killed in separate airstrikes in Rafah, with their bodies taken to the European Hospital, according to hospital sources.
Aid organizations have recently expressed serious concern over the growing crisis, noting that thousands of children are suffering from malnutrition and that many residents are surviving on just one meal a day, as reported by the United Nations.
On Friday, the head of the World Health Organization’s Eastern Mediterranean office, Dr Hanan Balkhy, appealed to the newly appointed U.S. ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, to encourage Israeli authorities to ease the blockade on Gaza to allow the entry of essential supplies, including medicine. She suggested that witnessing the conditions on the ground might influence his perspective, AP reported.
During his first appearance as ambassador on Friday, Mike Huckabee visited the Western Wall in Jerusalem’s Old City, regarded as the holiest site for Jewish prayer. He placed a note in the wall, which he said contained a handwritten prayer from U.S. President Donald Trump. Huckabee also stated that efforts were ongoing to secure the release of the remaining hostages held by Hamas.
The ongoing Israeli military campaign in Gaza, which resumed after they broke a ceasefire agreement with Hamas has resulted in the deaths of approximately 51,000 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children, including at least 876 infants under one year old. The conflict has also claimed the lives of numerous healthcare workers, aid personnel, and journalists.
Large portions of Gaza have been decimated, including key food production infrastructure. The violence has displaced roughly 90% of the population, leaving many to shelter in makeshift tents or damaged buildings.
