Islamabad: The militant group in Pakistan, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which recently hijacked a passenger train, claimed that it had attacked a Pakistan military convoy and killed 90 soldiers. Meanwhile, Pakistan Police has said that only five paramilitary troops were killed, though it admitted that an attack happened.

BLA, also a separatist group in Balochistan province, claimed responsibility for the attack on the military convoy. A bus in the convoy, which included eight buses, was completely destroyed in the attack. According to the group, it “systematically” eliminated all military personnel on board the convoy.

A press release by the separatist militant group read, “The Majeed Brigade, the Fidayee unit of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), targeted a convoy of the occupying Pakistani military a few hours ago in a VBIED Fidayee attack near Rakshan Mill on the RCD Highway in Noshki. The convoy consisted of eight buses, one of which was completely destroyed in the explosion.”

“Immediately after the attack, the Fateh Squad of the BLA advanced and completely surrounded another bus, systematically eliminating all military personnel on board, bringing the total number of enemy casualties to 90,” it said.

“The BLA accepts responsibility for the attack. Further details will be released to the media soon,” the militant group’s release said.

Last week, BLA created an unprecedented hostage situation by attacking the Jaffar Express and taking around 450 passengers hostage. The train, which was travelling from Quetta to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was subjected to bomb and gun attack. The situation was contained after a military operation that ran for hours. Following this, the Pakistan military claimed that they had killed all the Baloch separatists who hijacked the train.
