India delivers 13th batch of medical supplies to Afghanistan

New Delhi: As part of the humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, India has delivered its 13th batch of medical supplies consisting of essential medicines and other medical items. It was handed over to the authorities of the Indira Gandhi Children's Hospital in Kabul.
India has so far supplied 45 tonnes of medical items, said the Ministry of External Affairs. The aid is a reflection of India's "special relationship" with the Afghan people and the UN's urgent appeals to provide assistance.
MEA in an official statement said: "India has supplied the 13th batch of medical assistance consisting of essential medicines and medical/surgical items like Pediatric Stethoscope, Sphygmomanometer mobile type with pediatric BP cuff, infusion pump, drip chamber set, electrocautery, nylon sutures, etc."
Since the Taliban took over the country a year ago, India has been providing consistent humanitarian aid to the Afghan people. New Delhi has also sent 40,000 metric tons of wheat to the war-torn country.
India, like other nations, has not recognised the Taliban regime and has been backing the calls for an inclusive government. Diplomats have been calling for assurances that the territory will not be used for terrorist activities against any country. India had withdrawn its officials from the embassy in August 2021 when the Taliban took over. In June 2022, Delhi established a diplomatic presence in Kabul.
