A 12- member US federal grand jury on Tuesday found former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin guilty on all three charges of murder of George Floyd in May, last year.

Chauvin knelt on the neck of Floyd, who died without breath, after being arrested for allegedly passing a counterfeit USD 20 bill in Minneapolis on May 25 in 2020.

Chauvin was seen kneeling on the victim's neck for nine minutes and 29 seconds while he was handcuffed and pinned to the pavement even when Floyd made repeated pleas that he could not breathe.

"I can't breathe. I can't breathe," were his last words.

The federal jury in Minneapolis found Chauvin guilty on all three counts: second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

President Joe Biden, Vice president Kamala Harris and Jill Biden called members of the Floyd family to express their condolences.

"The systemic racism is a stain on our nation's soul. The knee on the neck of justice for black Americans. Profound fear and trauma. The pain, the exhaustion that black and brown Americans experience every single day." said president Joe Biden.
