Pakistanis celebrate 'victory' over India after ceasefire

Islamabad: Following the ceasefire, India has agreed with Pakistan, and Pakistanis are celebrating their presumed ‘victory’ against India. Videos of many carrying Pakistan national flags taking to the streets and dancing surfaced on social media. Among them is none other than Pakistan's former cricketer and skipper Shahid Afridi, who praised Pakistan's armed forces, leading a rally in Karachi, Siasat reported.

In the video featuring Afridi, he called the Pak forces “unbreakable”.
Speaking to local Pakistani media, Afridi claimed that their army showed who was stronger, while the Indians underestimated them. He further claimed that Indian has no idea about Pakistan’s skills and technology and if India “try to engage in a war, the world will come to know who is stronger.”
According to him, it was Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is responsible for damaging India’s image globally. He said that Modi does not allow cricket teams from Pakistan, thus generating hate against Pakistan.
“What kind of mindset is it?” Afridi asked.
He further claimed that when the Indian Army killed innocent children, Pakistan did not touch Indian civilians.
“Innocent children and civilians were martyred. Show me one proof that the Pakistani army targeted Indian civilians?”
However on May 7, Pakistani mortar shelling killed several Kashmiris, including children, residing along the Line of Control (LoC), especially in the Rajouri and Poonch districts. The following day, at least 15 Indian civilians, including a soldier, were killed in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri and Akhnoor districts, reports Siasat.
Afridi continued with a question about how India can blame Pakistan without a proper investigation. He said he congratulated the Pakistan Army before claiming that his country is a peace-loving nation but has suffered from terrorism for a long time.
Apart from Afridi’s, there were many videos that showed Pakistanis dancing over a presumed victory of the Pakistani army over Indian forces. There were flag marches and processions by different political and social organisations.
Tensions between the two countries simmered following a deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22.
Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after the merciless killing of 25 tourists and a guide in Kashmir’s Pahalgam by terrorists on April 22. As a retaliation, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 and struck nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (Pok). Both countries exchanged offensive attacks, though most of Pakistan's attacks were thwarted by the Indian defence. However, India reportedly struck multiple locations in Pakistan territory, and a serious war-like situation was brewing before a ceasefire was agreed between the powers.
