Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his gratitude to North Korean troops for their involvement in fighting against Ukrainian forces in Russia's Kursk region. In a statement released by the Kremlin on Monday, Putin praised the “heroism, high level of special training, and dedication” of the North Korean fighters, who, alongside Russian troops, defended the motherland as though it were their own.
This statement follows confirmation from North Korea that it had sent troops to Russia to support its war efforts against Ukraine. The involvement of North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region was first confirmed by Russia on Saturday, where Ukrainian forces had seized significant territory in August 2024.
