Ukraine frontline would collapse if he turned off Starlink internet system: Musk

Washington: American billionaire Elon Musk on Sunday warned Ukraine that the country’s entire defence system would collapse if he ‘turned off’ his Starlink satellite internet system.

Elon Musk issued the warning days after calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ‘evil’ for pushing a ‘forever war’ with Russia.

It is reported that Musk’s Starlink satellite internet system is crucial for streamlining the military communications.

The billionaire made it clear on his platform X that he is ‘sickened’ by the prolonged ‘slaughter in a stalemate that Ukraine will inevitably lose’.

‘I literally challenged Putin to one on one physical combat over Ukraine and my Starlink system is the backbone of the Ukrainian army. Their entire front line would collapse if I turned it off. What I am sickened by (Th)is years of slaughter in a stalemate that Ukraine will inevitably lose. Anyone who really cares, really thinks and really understands wants the meat grinder to stop. PEACE NOW,’ Musk made it clear.

Musk, who is an adviser to President Donald Trump, demanded sanctions on '10 Ukrainian' oligarchs who he said were funding Democrats' actions.

‘Place sanctions on the top 10 Ukrainian oligarchs, especially the ones with mansions in Monaco, and this will stop immediately. That is the key to the puzzle,’ Musk wrote.

It is reported that Musk’s Starlink stepped in to help Ukraine manage the situation after the country’s fixed-line and mobile networks were damaged from Russian bombing since invasion in February 2022.

Starlink reportedly sent tens of thousands of its dishes with terminals to fill the void.
