Chennai: People in Chanani woke up Thursday morning to the peal of thunder and accompanying heavy rain, which quickly swelled on the streets.
The rains went on for several hours waterlogging roads in many localities.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) On Wednesday said the northeast monsoon commenced over extreme south peninsular India, including Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The weather report predicts cloudy sky and thunderstorm with moderate to heavy rain in Chennai on Thursday.
