Aamir Khan clarifies viral video: IPS officers visited for a meet-and-greet, not investigation

Amid growing speculation sparked by a viral video showing police vehicles accompanying a bus outside Aamir Khan’s Bandra residence, the actor’s team has clarified the reason for the visit.

Contrary to online rumours, there was no investigation or legal trouble involved — the visitors were, in fact, probationary IPS officers on a scheduled meet-and-greet.

“The IPS trainees of the current batch had requested a meeting with him, and Aamir Khan hosted them at his residence,” his spokesperson told News18, putting an end to the unfounded assumptions.

The incident gained attention after social media users circulated clips of three police vehicles escorting a luxury bus, raising eyebrows and triggering speculation. However, Aamir’s team confirmed that approximately 25 trainee officers were in the bus, visiting the actor as part of a pre-arranged interaction.

This isn’t a one-off event for Aamir Khan.

Following the release of his 1999 film Sarfarosh, where he portrayed a principled IPS officer, many trainees expressed a desire to meet him — a wish the actor fulfilled. Since then, he has hosted several such sessions with IPS probationers over the years.

The visit comes at a time when Aamir Khan is enjoying a career resurgence.

His latest film, Sitaare Zameen Par, a sports comedy drama, has become a global hit, earning ₹267 crore worldwide on a reported budget of ₹90–100 crore. The film’s success marks a turnaround for Khan, whose previous big-budget projects Thugs of Hindostan (2018) and Laal Singh Chaddha (2022) failed to perform at the box office.

Looking ahead, Aamir will next appear in Coolie (2025), a Tamil action thriller directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, with superstar Rajinikanth in the lead.
