Terrorists are no Muslims: Aamir Khan condemns Pahalgam attack

New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan said that Islam does not endorse terrorism, nor the attackers at Pahalgam were Muslims. He asserted that it is written in Islam that one cannot kill any innocent human or cannot strike a woman or a child. If some do so, they are going against Islam.

Talking to India TV, Aamir said that no religion asks anyone to kill people.

“No religion asks you to kill people. I don’t consider these terrorists Muslims because it’s written in Islam that you can’t kill any innocent human, can’t strike a woman or a child. They’re going against the religion by doing what they are doing,” the renowned actor said.

Aamir’s message condemning the terror attack, which happened on April 22, appeared only around a week later, which gave rise to criticism. Now, he has responded to this, stating that he is not on social media, where people react instantly to events. He also reminded me that he had mentioned it at an event he attended around the same time.

He said that the Pahalgam attack was cruel and showed the terrorists’ cowardice. They even asked about the victims’ religion before firing at them, he reminded. The attack was not just on our nation but also our unity, Aamir said and pointed out that our country has given a befitting response to the brutality.

The  Pahalgam attack was a terrorist attack on tourists by five armed terrorists near Pahalgam in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 civilians were killed on 22 April. The militants mainly targeted Hindu tourists, asking their names before firing at them, though a Christian tourist and a local Muslim were also killed.
