In a strong appeal rooted in national sentiment, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has called upon Indian film producers to stop choosing Turkey as a shooting destination, citing the country’s continued support for Pakistan, particularly in matters impacting India’s sovereignty and security.
Representing 36 crafts of workers, technicians, and artists in the Indian film and entertainment industry, FWICE released a statement emphasising that "Nation comes first" and asked the industry to align with national interests by avoiding collaboration with nations perceived as hostile to India.
The appeal comes in the wake of Turkey’s repeated support for Pakistan on international platforms, including in matters of conflict with India. FWICE stated that such support threatens India’s national integrity and that continuing to invest in Turkey through film projects may inadvertently benefit a nation that opposes Indian interests.
“It is not in the best interests of the Indian film industry to invest or collaborate in any form that could indirectly support or benefit such a nation,” the federation said.
They highlighted the importance of cultural and national solidarity, urging filmmakers, actors, directors, producers, and crew to suspend all film-related activities in Turkey until the country reconsiders its diplomatic positioning and respects the principles of mutual respect and non-interference.
Adding to the stance, FWICE General Secretary Ashoke Dubey also reiterated the organisation’s demand for a complete ban on Pakistani artists working in India. This follows the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, 2025, which has sharply escalated tensions between India and Pakistan.
