New Delhi: Rebecca Baby, frontwoman of the French pop band Lulu Van Trapp, performed topless in a concert protesting against sexual harassment.
Rebecca Baby was reportedly groped by several men while performing at the Le Cri de la Goutte festival in Ain, France.
Back on the stage from the audience members, shaken but defiant, she went on to perform removing her top, going bare-chested, protesting against the objectification of women’s bodies.
Baby recounted the incident that took place on Saturday in a now deleted Instgram post, explaining the ordeal that occurred while engaging with the audience.
Rather calling off the show, she went ahead performing saying that ‘I’m faced with a choice. Either I stop the concert and everyone loses, especially me, or I continue. I’ll stay topless until it’s normal. Until your brains get used to it not being sexual’.
Festival organisers Le Cri de la Goutte responded to the incident stating that ‘This behaviour is unacceptable’, adding ‘It is a total contradiction with the values of the Cri de la Goutte: respect, kindness, inclusion, safety for all.’ The band Lulu Van Trapp thanked for the solidarity.
Many came out backing the singer with one commenter online saying ‘Congratulations to the singer, what strength. Sincerely hoping these guys are the ones who are ashamed’.
