Kochi: The police on Saturday arrested Malayalam film actor Shine Tom Chacko in connection with a drug case. His arrest was recorded after about a four-hour-long interrogation in connection with an incident in which he allegedly fled from a hotel in Kochi during a narcotics raid, PTI reported.
Police said that he was booked under Sections 27 (consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance) and 29 (abetment and criminal conspiracy) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The medical examination and further proceedings will be conducted soon, police added.
Chacko appeared before the Kochi City Police on Saturday for questioning in response to a formal notice issued by the police.
It was on Wednesday night, upon realising that the DANSAF team had arrived, Shine escaped from his third-floor room—jumping out of the window onto a sheet covering the second floor and escaping through the staircase, police sources added.
Meanwhile, actress Vincy Aloshious expressed her unhappiness over her complaint against actor Shine Tom Chacko getting leaked. She explained why she chose not to divulge details about the incident.
Vincy had accused Chacko of showing up to work allegedly under the influence of drugs and acting inappropriately toward her. Though she chose not to reveal the actor’s identity or the film’s name publicly, she reportedly filed a formal complaint with the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), and the Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA).
Vincy maintained that she had specifically requested in her complaint that the names of the accused actor or the film in question not be revealed to the public and that she made the decision to protect the project, which she felt should not bear the brunt of his alleged wrongdoings.
