Hindu spiritual leader says only 2 to 4 out of 100 girls are "pure"!

Mathura:  A video of a Vrindavan-based spiritual leader sparked controversy after he made derogatory remarks about young women, saying that there are hardly two to four girls out of 100 who are pure. According to the leader, Premanand Maharaj, nowadays most of them are involved in love or sexual relationships, The Free Press Journal reported.

His statement caused an explosion after his video went viral on social media. Netizens came down on him, saying that he is promoting regressive views against women.

The spiritual leader was apparently expressing his concerns over modern-day relationships. He claimed that a young man who has been with four girls develops a habit of adultery and cannot stay loyal to his wife. Also, a woman who has had relationships with four men does not have the courage to accept a husband. Only two to four girls out of a hundred are living a “pure life”, devoted to one man, he claimed.

His remarks gave rise to sharp criticism from social media users. Many called his statements “insulting” and “narrow-minded”, saying that such statements demean women and promote toxic stereotypes about relationships and morality.

Premanand is widely respected for his teachings, says The Free Press Journal, but his remarks have divided his followers. When some of them respectfully disagreed with saying that what he said was wrong, others agreed with his saying that he was speaking the truth.

An X used commented, “I did not expect this from him. How can you compare purity of someone with the dressing sense?”

A second user commented, “I think premanand ji maharaj is talking about today’s time but still he has given wrong statement. The same thing can be said for boys as well.”

Another user wrote, “Thanks for posting, Millions like me have benefited from his wisdom. But people, sadly, mostly Hindus, tend to judge him because he s not “sophisticated” as per western norms and doesn’t speak English. If people can’t respect, at least don’t ridicule.”
