India blocks X account of Pak Defence Minister Khawaja Asif

New Delhi: India has blocked the X account of Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif following the deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists. The action comes after Asif’s public admission of Pakistan’s involvement in supporting terrorism, a statement that further reinforced the country’s reputation as a “rogue state” fueling global terrorism.

In a recent interview with Sky News, when asked about Pakistan’s long-standing ties with terrorist organizations, Asif openly acknowledged the country’s role in backing, training, and funding such groups, especially in collaboration with the United States and the West over the past three decades. His candid admission sparked a strong response from India, which raised the issue at the United Nations.

India's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Yojna Patel, condemned Asif's remarks, calling them a clear confession of Pakistan's involvement in terrorism. Speaking at a UN event for victims of terrorism, Patel criticized Pakistan as a destabilizing force in the region, exposing it as a state that promotes global terrorism. She also accused Pakistan’s delegate of misusing international platforms to spread false propaganda against India.

The blocking of Asif’s X account follows India’s recent action against 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, which collectively had 63 million subscribers. These channels were banned for spreading provocative and communal content. Among the blocked channels were major media outlets like Dawn News, ARY News, BOL News, Geo News, SAMAA TV, and GNN.

The terror attack in Pahalgam occurred when militants opened fire on a group of tourists in Baisaran Valley, resulting in the deaths of 26 people, including a Nepali national, and leaving several others injured. Harrowing footage from the scene showed the chaos and indiscriminate firing by the attackers, amplifying the gravity of the situation.
