Mob lynching again in Kerala! Group beats youth to death in Kozhikode

Kozhikode: A young man who had come to attend a temple festival was beaten to death by a group. The incident took place in Palakkandi, Palakkottuvayal, Kozhikode. It was Suraj (20), son of Bobby, a native of Ambalakandi, who got killed following an attack by around fifteen people.

Locals say that there was a conflict between Suraj and his friends who were studying with him last night. It is learned that the attack is linked to the conflict.

Three people have been taken into custody by the Chevayur police. This includes a father and two sons who live nearby. The investigation into the case is progressing.

It was only in February last week that a teenager in Kozhikode was brutally assaulted to death. The victim, Muhammed Shahabas, a Class 10 student, was attacked by a group of students in an extension of a conflict. The attack on the victim involved the use of the deadly martial art weapon nunchaku. What is known about the developments that reached the murder so far is that a farewell party was organized in a tuition centre in the locality, and Shahbaz, who is not a student of the centre, got involved. A conflict arose at the farewell party after students from MJHSS Elettil School and Thamarassery GVHSS clashed following a technical glitch that caused the music to stop. Students got into a verbal confrontation first, but authorities at the education centre managed to resolve it for the time being.

Last Friday, the Kerala High Court refused to grant bail to the five accused juveniles.
