The latest round of missile strikes by Iran has reportedly killed at least eight people and injured over 87 in Israel, while several residential buildings were damaged, as the conflict between Iran and Israel continues into its fourth day since Israel unilaterally attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities and military infrastructure.
The sky over the Israeli cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa could be seen lit up due to a barrage of Iranian missiles that appeared, and many of them, as claimed by Israeli authorities, had been intercepted, while the ones that hit the ground damaged homes, residential apartments, and a power plant.
Authorities in Israel confirmed that 8 civilians were killed and at least 87 others injured in multiple strikes across central regions, including Petah Tikva, where residential buildings were severely damaged, windows shattered, and concrete walls blackened.
In Haifa, over 30 people were reported injured, and rescue operations were launched after missiles struck near the port area, where fires broke out at a power plant, increasing fears of broader infrastructural damage.
Iranian state media claimed that over 100 missiles were launched at Israeli targets, characterising the action as retaliation for Israel’s Friday assault on its military leadership and nuclear sites, while asserting that a new missile strategy was used to confuse Israel’s air defence systems.
Israel’s military has remained largely silent on the exact scale of the damage, though it has previously acknowledged the limitations of its defence systems and warned that more difficult days were expected.
Meanwhile, Israeli counterattacks intensified, with strikes reportedly hitting missile launch sites in Iran late on Sunday and targeting fuel depots and key energy infrastructure in Tehran, where images showed flames lighting up the night sky. These strikes were said to have resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, including its intelligence chief, further aggravating tensions.
The conflict has already claimed at least 14 Israeli lives in earlier missile barrages, while Iranian authorities have reported a death toll of 224, most of them civilians, with widespread destruction across multiple cities.
Despite mounting international pressure, Iranian officials have reportedly informed mediators from Qatar and Oman that no ceasefire discussions would be considered while Israel continues its assault.
