UAE braces for rain, hail as weekend weather turns unstable

Residents in several parts of the UAE woke up to an unusual mix of weather conditions this week, with foggy skies and scattered rainfall reported, even as temperatures soared to a blistering 48°C in Mezaira, located in the Al Dhafra region.

According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the sudden shifts in weather are expected to continue into the weekend. The Met Office has issued an alert warning of unstable conditions due to the movement of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ICTZ) toward the country.

The ICTZ, coupled with advancing surface and upper-level low-pressure systems from the south, is predicted to trigger further changes in the weather pattern.

Some eastern, southern, and inland areas are expected to be affected by the weather conditions from Friday to Monday, July 25 to 28, according to the alert.

Meteorologists say moist air masses from the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman are moving towards the UAE, creating conditions conducive to the formation of convective clouds. These cloud formations may result in additional rainfall in some areas over the coming days.

Authorities have urged motorists and residents to exercise caution, particularly during foggy and rainy periods and to stay updated with official weather forecasts.
