The UAE has welcomed the decision by several countries to move toward recognising the State of Palestine, calling it a historic development that strengthens global support for Palestinian rights.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister, praised the intentions announced by Malta, Canada, Australia, Andorra, Finland, Iceland, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Portugal and San Marino. He said these steps reflect growing international momentum in support of the Palestinian people's legitimate right to establish an independent and sovereign state.
Sheikh Abdullah noted that the increasing number of countries taking this position adds momentum to international efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace. He stressed that such recognition is vital to reviving the political process, resolving the Palestinian issue and promoting stability in the region.
He also urged the wider international community to follow suit, emphasising that recognising the State of Palestine is a moral, humanitarian and legal responsibility.
