New Delhi: Ahead of the assembly elections to be held in four states and one union territory, the Central Election Commission has ordered a ban on exit polls. Exit polls must neither be conducted nor the results published between March 27 and April 29.

The ban on publishing/circulating exit polls by print or electronic media has been taken as per section 126 A(1) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
