Akshay Kumar joins Juhu beach clean-up drive after Ganpati Visarjan
text_fieldsMumbai: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar on Sunday spearheaded a beach clean-up drive at Mumbai’s Juhu beach, a day after Ganpati Visarjan. A video from the event shows the actor actively participating in removing waste left behind after the festival immersion.
The initiative also saw the participation of Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani. Widely circulated clips on social media feature Kumar collecting litter and placing it in bags alongside other volunteers.
Speaking at the event, the actor emphasised the importance of public responsibility in keeping surroundings clean. He said maintaining cleanliness is “common wisdom” and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for highlighting that cleanliness is not solely the duty of the government or the BMC, but also a collective responsibility of the people.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Akshay Kumar has reunited with Saif Ali Khan for the upcoming film Haiwaan, which recently went on floors. Sharing a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram, Kumar posted a clip of himself and Khan chatting with director Priyadarshan. The film marks the duo’s first collaboration in nearly 18 years since Tashan, which was both a commercial and critical failure.
In his caption, Akshay wrote: “Hum sab hi hain thode se shaitaan… Koi upar se Saint, koi andar se Haiwaan :)) Starting the shoot for #Haiwaan today with my absolute favourite captain of the ship, @priyadarshan.official Sir. Great to be working with Saif after nearly 17 years. Let’s get the haiwaniyat rolling!! @kvn.productions @thespianfilms_ind”.
Saif Ali Khan, who sustained multiple knife injuries at his Bandra home in January while trying to fend off a burglar, is now back on film sets. The actor had suffered six stab wounds during the incident, two of which were reportedly serious as they were close to his spine.
