Devoleena Bhattacharjee slams trolls over colorist remarks on her baby's skin tone
text_fieldsActor Devoleena Bhattacharjee has strongly responded to online trolls who made insensitive comments about her seven-month-old son Joy's skin tone.
The Saath Nibhaana Saathiya star celebrated her son’s seven-month milestone by posting adorable pictures online, but was soon targeted by a section of social media users for her child's complexion.
Unfazed by the negativity, Devoleena took to her Instagram Stories to not only shut down the trolls but also expose their identities by sharing screenshots of their profiles.
One comment mocked the baby's skin tone by implying it came from the father. To this, Devoleena fired back with sarcasm asking if the commenter looked like his neighbour.
In another post, she called out a troll from Delhi who identified as an engineer. She wrote, "He is an Engineer from Delhi. Only he knows what kind of engineer he is. Even after spending so much money to become an engineer, his life and thinking did not improve. If he is an engineer, then understand in which direction the future is going."
Addressing another user, who appeared to be a mother, Devoleena expressed concern for the troll’s own child: "Now what should I say about her life. She is a mother herself as you can see in her profile. I just pray to God that her child does not fall prey to this disease."
When someone mentioned India’s ongoing obsession with fair skin, Devoleena clarified that not all people share such views: "Not all, but the uneducated and ill-upbringing are always obsessed and cling to it... Always frustrated in life, so they do what they are best... Spreading hate and negativity."
Devoleena and her husband Shanwaz Shaikh welcomed their baby boy on December 18. The couple shared the happy news on Instagram the following day, writing: "Thrilled to announce the arrival of our bundle of joy, our Baby Boy. Elated parents Devoleena and Shanwaz".
The couple, who got married in 2022, have since kept fans updated about their parenting journey. Devoleena’s bold stand against racial remarks highlights the persistent issue of colourism in society—and her refusal to stay silent is resonating with many online.
