Hollywood star Will Smith declares Feb 1 as his New Year’s day

Los Angeles: Hollywood star Will Smith is celebrating the start of his 2025 on February 1, declaring that January was a total disappointment.
Taking to Instagram, the actor shared a note with his followers, writing, “I've decided that January Sucked! And February 1 is my actual New Year's Day. So... HAPPY NEW YEAR'S, EVERYBODY (sic).”
This year also marks the third anniversary of the infamous Oscar Slapgate incident. At the 94th Academy Awards on March 27, 2022, Smith made headlines when he slapped comedian and actor Chris Rock on stage after Rock joked about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and her struggle with alopecia.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Will Smith is reportedly in talks to reunite with director Michael Bay for another action-packed venture. The duo, who first teamed up for the hit ‘Bad Boys’ franchise, are considering a collaboration on ‘Fast and Loose’—an upcoming Netflix thriller.
According to Variety, ‘Fast and Loose’ follows a man who wakes up in Tijuana with no memory of his past. As he pieces his life together, he discovers that he has been living two identities: one as a powerful crime lord and the other as an undercover CIA agent. The film's script is penned by Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Chris Bremner, and Eric Pearson.
The project is expected to be produced by Smith, Kelly McCormick, and David Leitch for 87North. Additionally, Jon Mone and Ryan Shimazaki are in discussions to produce for Westbrook Studios, while James Lassiter is also attached to the project. Executive producers include Robert Simonds and Noah Fogelson for STXfilms, along with Barry Waldman.
Smith and Bay first joined forces for 1995’s 'Bad Boys', which marked Bay’s directorial debut and became a major box-office success. The franchise later expanded with three sequels: 'Bad Boys II', 'Bad Boys for Life', and 'Bad Boys: Ride or Die'.
Smith, who won an Oscar in 2021 for his portrayal of Richard Williams in 'King Richard', starred in Apple’s 'Emancipation' in 2022. His next project is Sony Pictures’ sci-fi thriller 'Resistor', based on Daniel Suarez’s 2014 novel 'Influx'.
As for Michael Bay, he remains busy with several projects. The 'Transformers' and 'Pearl Harbor' director is reportedly in talks to adapt the viral animated meme 'Skibidi Toilet' for television and film, alongside former Paramount Pictures president Adam Goodman. Bay is also set to release his first docuseries, 'Born Evil: The Serial Killer and the Savior'.
