Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey starring Basil Joseph and Darshana Rajendran is addressing the relevant social issue of domestic violence. The sarcastic storytelling worked for the commercial film which drew the attention of the masses.

Speaking with Pinkvilla, Basil Joseph said the film managed to create an impact and helped domestic abuse victims to find a voice in cinema. He added that many parents have started sending their kids to karate classes already and it matters a lot for the next generation.

"This movie should be actually shown to the boys and it is sure to influence them. I cannot quote or reveal but I got to know that a lady kicked her husband after watching Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey because she got triggered. She actually punched him in the face and the complaint was registered at the police station," he added.

About his journey from being a filmmaker to a lead actor, he said his plan was always to become a director, and acting happened coincidently. "While I was directing the film, I used to do small roles and slowly I shifted to lead roles but somewhere at sometime the transition happened. It was an organic process." He further said acting is a comfort zone for him as a director because it doesn't have the same pressure or responsibility. However, playing a lead role is a big responsibility.
