The Kannada film Kantara is on its way to becoming a super hit and has recorded a remarkable sixth weekend by collecting Rs 25.50 crores. It is a 30% drop from its 5th weekend. The film also crossed Rs 300 crores mark at the Indian box office and has become the second Kannada film to do so.

It has taken over Baahubali 2 in the sixth-weekend collection. The Rajamouli film grossed Rs 22.20 crore in its sixth week. Experts think Kantara is ready to take over more Baahubali collections in the next few weeks, reported Pinkvilla.

The 30% drop in the collection was recorded in South India. The audience in North India is still responding steadily to the film. It has so far grossed 73.50 crores in north India alone. It has grossed Rs 157 crores in Karnataka, Rs 49 crores in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Rs 8 crores in Tamil Nadu, and Rs 12.75 crores in Kerala.

The Rishab Shetty film has overpowered Bollywood's Diwali competitions Ram Setu and Thank God. Kantara had a slow start among Hindi audiences but word of mouth has worked wonders since then.

The action thriller film showcases the conflict between forest officers and the inhabitants of a village in Karnataka. Shetty has focused on the roots and stories heard through generations. The mysterious forest and its legends are crucial parts of the plot. The critically acclaimed film is being praised for the portrayal of the ritual dance 'Bhoota Kola'. It has emerged as the second highest-grossing Kannada film of all time as well as 2022.
