text_fieldsNew Delhi: Malayalam cinema icon Mohanlal has announced that 'Drishyam 3', the much-anticipated third instalment in the popular thriller franchise, will hit theatres in October 2025. The film continues the gripping story of Georgekutty, a character that has become one of the most iconic in Indian cinema.
The 65-year-old actor confirmed the release via his official Instagram account on Saturday, sharing a teaser video with a close-up shot of himself, followed by the words: “Coming soon. Lights. Camera. October.” The caption read, “October 2025 – the camera turns back to Georgekutty.”
Directed by Jeethu Joseph, who also helmed the previous two critically acclaimed instalments, 'Drishyam 3' is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.
The franchise began with Drishyam in 2013, which was a massive box office hit and earned praise for its suspenseful plot and emotional depth. Its sequel, 'Drishyam 2', released in 2022, picked up the story six years later and ended on a gripping cliffhanger, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter.
The success of Drishyam went far beyond Kerala — the film has been remade in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Mandarin (Chinese), and Sinhalese, making it one of the most remade Indian films in recent years.
With the announcement of 'Drishyam 3', audiences are once again looking forward to revisiting Georgekutty’s world of secrets, deception, and suspense.
