At San Diego Comic-Con, Percy Jackson and the Olympians co-creator Rick Riordan confirmed that the show's second season will premiere on December 10 on Disney+ (and on JioCinema in India). Riordan also revealed new casting updates for Season 3, which is gearing up for production—Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie have been cast as Nico di Angelo and Bianca, respectively. The returning cast for Season 2 includes Walker Scobell, Aryan Simhadri, Leah Sava Jeffries, Charlie Bushnell, Daniel Diemer, and Dior Goodjohn.
Season 2 is based on The Sea of Monsters, the second book in Riordan's popular series. The storyline picks up after the magical boundaries of Camp Half-Blood are compromised. Percy embarks on a perilous mission to retrieve the Golden Fleece, which has the power to heal the camp's defences and rescue Grover from the dangerous Sea of Monsters. Alongside his half-brother Tyson, Annabeth, and Clarisse, Percy must survive and foil the plot by Luke and the Titan Kronos to destroy Camp Half-Blood and Olympus, TNIE reported.
Jonathan E. Steinberg continues to serve as executive producer, working with Dan Shotz, Rick Riordan, Craig Silverstein, Rebecca Riordan, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein of The Gotham Group, Bert Salke, Jeremy Bell of The Gotham Group, DJ Goldberg, Jim Rowe, James Bobin, Jason Ensler, Sarah Watson, and Albert Kim.
