In response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that killed at least 26 people, including two foreign nationals, and injured many others, Jammu and Kashmir Police have initiated a large-scale crackdown across the Valley.

As reported by The Observer Post, the Kashmir Inspector General of Police stated that around 90 individuals have been booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA), and roughly 2,800 people have been taken into custody either for questioning or as a preventive measure.

The attack occurred on April 22 at the scenic Baisaran meadow, a popular tourist spot in J&K’s Pahalgam, Siasat Daily reported.

Following the attack, security forces have launched widespread raids targeting the homes of known militants and their associates. According to a senior police official, joint operations by the J&K Police, CRPF, and Army are actively taking place in multiple areas.

Current security measures include regular cordon-and-search operations (CASOs), intensified area patrols, and heightened surveillance at key locations. Authorities are also using mobile phone tracking to monitor the movements of suspects.

Officials have called on the public to remain alert and report any suspicious behaviour, assuring that the crackdown is not targeting innocent civilians.
