New Delhi: Over the massive protests that happened in Bihar, run by students, election strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor, leaders of his Jan Suraaj party, some coaching centre owners and 700 unknown people were booked by the Bihar Police. The FIR filed states that the accused “unauthorizedly” gathered people, instigated them and created a law and order issue, NDTV reported.

Police claimed that the Jan Suraaj Party carried out a protest march without permission, and it turned violent at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan. The protesters broke police loudspeakers and clashed with magistrates and police officers on duty.

They said that the protesters violated the administration’s guidelines and disrupted public order despite repeated requests.

On Sunday, police used batons and water cannons to disperse the massive protest by the Bihar Public Service Commission aspirants.

The protesters demanded a re-test of the 70th Combined Competitive Examination, highlighting reports of paper leaks. The protesters gathered at Gandhi Maidan and marched towards JP Golambar, intending to meet Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at his residence.

Kishor had expressed his full support to the protesting aspirants who were participating in their march. He announced that a students’ delegation would meet the Chief Secretary. However, students refused to meet anyone else but the Chief Minister.

On Saturday, Kishor called for “Chhatra Sansad” at Gandhi Maidan to discuss students’ issues and strategise future actions. However, the city administration refused to give permission for the event.

Kishor’s part Jan Suraaj, which was launched in October this year, is expected to contest in all Bihar seats in the upcoming assembly polls.
