BJP booth president in Agra thrashed by women over alleged obscene messages
text_fieldsIn a dramatic confrontation in Agra’s Khandauli area, a BJP booth-level leader, Anand Sharma, was publicly beaten by a group of women who accused him of sending obscene photos and videos to female party workers.
The incident took place at Sharma’s residence and was caught on video, which quickly went viral.
The footage shows the women forcibly dragging Sharma from his chair, slapping him, and striking him with slippers - reportedly 22 times in just over a minute - as his wife watched on.
Despite Sharma pleading with folded hands, the assault continued until his wife stepped in, urging the women to stop.
According to Asha Agrawal, a BJP Mahila Morcha official, Sharma had been harassing women in the party by sending inappropriate content for more than a month, ignoring repeated warnings. The final straw came when he allegedly targeted a female office-bearer.
Sharma, who operates a marriage hall in Khandauli, is said to hold the position of booth president within the BJP. However, BJP city president Rajkumar Gupta distanced the party from him, stating Sharma is "not an official party member but an independent worker."
Sharma’s family, meanwhile, claims he has been falsely accused and argue that no concrete evidence - such as messages or videos - has been shown to support the allegations.
Despite the public nature of the incident, police have not registered a case, citing the absence of a formal complaint.
