New York: The Border Security (BSF), which is guarding the 3,323 km India-Pakistan border, shot down a Pakistani drone in an area close to Punjab’s Amritsar along International Border on Saturday, sources said.

When they came to notice a buzzing sound in the Dhanoe Kalan village in Amritsar district at about 8.48 pm Saturday evening, BSF personnel swung into action, the news agency ANI reported citing BSF sources.o

The force further stated that they ‘immediately reacted’ as per drill, intercepting and successfully downing the suspected Pakistani drone.

In the subsequent search, BSF personnel recovered from the farms here a Quadcopter, DJI Matrice, 300 RTK and a consignment of three packets of suspected narcotics.

The packets were found to be attached to the drone by the iron ring.

The troops believe the four ‘luminous strips’ seen attached to consignment were used for ‘ easy detection of smugglers’.

‘The gross weight of the recovered consignment of suspected heroin is approximately 3.3 kg. Another nefarious attempt of Pakistan foiled by vigilant BSF troops,’ the BSF said in the statement.
