Building violations: civic body issues Kerala temple demolition notice

Ernakulam/Kerala: In Aluva of Kerala’s Ernakulam, the local governing body found that a temple was constructed with multiple violations, and it has issued a mandating that those concerned must demolish the structure or get it regularised.
It was the Churnikkara gram panchayat that found that the construction of the Ajnaneya temple, built near the Pipeline Road at SN Puram Junction in the fourth ward, is illegal.
It was activist KT Rahul who had filed a complaint against this. The temple is built on a space which is surrounded by roads. It was found that the construction was done without maintaining sufficient distance from the road. The panchayat issued the notice based on the investigating officers' report that there was no required space on all four sides of the temple.
The office bearers of the temple have been informed through a letter that they should either take necessary action to regularize the illegal construction or else demolish it and inform the panchayat in writing.
Rahul had earlier filed a complaint with the Chief Minister against the RSS Shakha operating near the temple by encroaching on the pipeline road. Rahul alleged that the process was being delayed due to the influence of the panchayat member, who is also a leading member of RSS.
