Thiruvananthapuram: The BJP received 82.45 percent of the donations made through electoral trusts formed by large companies. Out of the total Rs 3,811 crore donated by these 13 trusts in the financial year 2024-25, the BJP received Rs 3,143 crore, while the main opposition party, Congress, received only Rs 299 crore, which is eight percent.

The 19 electoral trusts formed to distribute donations from various companies to political parties have to submit their accounts to the Central Election Commission. Out of these, 13 trusts have submitted their accounts for the financial year 2023-24.

Prudent Electoral Trust, which gave Rs 2181 crore to the BJP, donated Rs 21.63 crore to Congress. Progressive Electoral Trust gave Rs 757.62 crore to the BJP and Rs 77.34 crore to the Congress. Other parties received: Trinamool Congress - Rs 102 crore, YSR Congress - Rs 98 crore, Telugu Desam Party - Rs 44 crore, Biju Janata Dal - Rs 15 crore, BRS - Rs 10 crore, DMK - Rs 10 crore.
