Gulmarg: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is putting efforts into reviving tourism in the region after it suffered set back following the Pahalgam massacre that claimed 26 lives.

However, the chief minister has to tackle what is reported the ‘boycott Kashmir’ and ‘don't go to Kashmir’ campaign being run by some online, according to NDTV.

Omar urged the Centre to step in to counter the campaign, saying that ‘They are enemies of India who are running such a campaign. Because they are doing the same work as the terrorists did on April 22.’

Calling out the campaign, he said that the Centre should use its agencies to identify the people behind ‘the boycott Kashmir campaign and take the strictest action against them’.

The 55-year-old led his council of ministers and administration to north Kashmir's Baramulla district Wednesday to hold a meeting to dispel the sense of fear from stemmed the terror attack.

A day earlier, they administration held a similar meeting of the council of ministers at a resort in south Kashmir's Pahalgam.

Following his meeting with tour operators from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi, the chief minister said they were keen on promoting region, especially Kashmir.

‘Tourism should gradually get a revival and this is our hope and this is our effort,’ he said.

Where he expected only twenty in the meeting, there showed up 70 tour operators, he said.

‘We have come to thank the tourists who are associated with our tourism industry, to boost their morale and to send a message that the April 22 attack will not derail us from our mission,’ the Chief Minister reportedly said.

Referring to the Pahalgam massacre on April 22, he said that ‘The terrorists want that there should be no progress here; they want that the environment should remain spoiled. They don't want the tourists to come here. But God willing, we will succeed’.
