Delhi CM credits government for AQI drop to decade-low 74
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday said Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) had fallen to 74 for the first time in 10 years, crediting her government’s pollution control measures.
Speaking at the inauguration of a Jan Seva Kendra in Greater Kailash, she said, “Apart from cleaning the air, we are also committed to cleaning the Yamuna and ending the mountains of garbage.”
She said her government had obtained a court stay until 1 November on the proposed ban on end-of-life vehicles after considering public concerns.
“As this is not the same government that only made hollow promises. Today’s government is genuinely working to reduce Delhi’s pollution,” she added.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s decision to allow commercial establishments to operate 24x7 and said the licensing process would soon be simplified with a single-window system.
Criticizing the previous AAP government, she said BJP MLAs were now working tirelessly for the people, unlike their predecessors.
Gupta announced plans to improve the bed-to-patient ratio in hospitals from the current 2.7 per 1,000 patients to 5 and said the government would use a public-private partnership model to procure medical equipment. She also pledged to complete the construction of 24 hospitals left unfinished by the previous administration.
In a post on X, she said the Jan Seva Kendra would help resolve public grievances, provide information on government schemes and ensure timely assistance, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of good governance.
