New Delhi: The official documents show that Delhi government has cancelled the tender for the renovation of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s official residence, The Wire reported citing PTI.

The government is reported to have cancelled the tender for Rs. 60 lakh meant for installing among others 14 air conditioners, televisions and electrical fixtures at Gupta’s residence.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had earlier come down heavily on the BJP administration accusing it of hypocrisy and extravagance.

During the campaign for the assembly polls, the BJP attacked AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal over his residence on his watch as the Chief Minister.

AAP MLA Anil Jha told a press conference last month that ‘The BJP always claimed to live simply and questioned the lifestyle of leaders from other parties. But now we’re getting reliable information that the CM is likely to be allotted two adjoining bungalows — 1/8 and 2/8 Raj Niwas Marg, each with 15 rooms. Renovation orders have already been issued.’

Taking on the BJP administration further,Jha said that Delhi would be governed from a ‘maya mahal’, adding ‘The same BJP leaders who used to attack Arvind Kejriwal for spending are now silent.’
